Michael M. Mitchell is a psychotherapist with a career built at the intersection of public service, mental health, and community safety. His journey began in the U.S. Army, where he developed essential discipline, leadership, and resilience skills. After his military service, Michael transitioned into law enforcement, working his way through the ranks of the Chicago Police Department. He served as a Patrol Officer, Detective, and Task Force Officer with the U.S. Marshals, specializing in violent crime investigations, gang suppression, and fugitive apprehension. His work was recognized with numerous honors, but during this time, Michael became drawn to more profound questions - not just what people do, but why they do it.
He began serving youth, families, and adults as a therapist, crisis responder, and care coordinator. His focus remains on healing, equity, and meeting individuals where they are in their journeys toward wellness. Michael is pursuing a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PsyD), focusing on trauma-informed care for underserved communities, especially children and adolescents impacted by systemic challenges.
Michael uses a trauma-informed care approach to therapy, recognizing the impact of past experiences on an individual's present well-being. He is committed to working with clients in an empathetic and supportive manner to foster healing and growth.
